I was born in 1981 in Bergen, Norway into a highly artistic family. Be it
painting, music or theatre, it’s been in my family forever. I’ve been
drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, so there was never
any doubt to what I’d be doing when I grew up. As I got older I fell in
love with the old masters of the reinecance, and I have always strived for
that same level of realism in my own paintings. This was not very well
accepted when I applied for art school at the age of eighteen though.

I was accepted into the school, but decided against it due to their opinion
about classical painting and drawing being a thing of the past and not
something they tought (sadly this seamed to be the common opinion of
the art community in my country at the time). I decided I’d learn the
things I wanted to learn no matter what, and so I am self tought in what
I do. I have been very lucky and met a lot of exceptionally talented
people who have helped me along the way.

I held my first exhibition when I was eighteen and continued painting and
learning with acrylics and oils until the beginning of 2006. Then I was
asked to do some concept designs for a game project, and due to the
amount of images they needed in a short period of time I started working
digitally to be able to finish up faster. The project didn’t become
anything, but I found that I really liked working digitally and so I’ve
stuck with that since. At the moment I am also studying 3D design
hoping someday to be able to work in the game industry.

Now even though most of my current work is digital, I can never leave the
oils completely behind. There are just some things a computer can’t
simulate. There will always be some late nights at the studio with a glass
of wine, some good music, the smell of wet paint in the air and the feel
of a paintbrush between my fingers.
